UNICORN: no such file to load — bundler

Every time I go to deploy a new rails application I end up getting the dreaded “`require’: no such file to load — bundler +unicorn”. You’ll most likely find this error when attempting to run unicorn_rails with a rails3 project and bundler.

Fortunately the solution is easy enough; your unicorn.rb simply requires a before_exec which specifies the location of the gemfile.

The before_exec is rather dandy; which also allows you to set other environment variables such as gem home paths; handy if you’re about to kill yourself getting unicorn, bundler, capistrano and rails to play nicely.

Cheap(er) Internet at Heathrow Airport

Something strange I noticed with the Internet at Heathrow. To connect my laptop to the wireless it costs £9 for 24 hours .. but on my smartphone (iPhone); the price is only £2.95 for 1 hour. The thing is .. I fly out to Sydney in an hour, why the heck do I want 24 hours of Internet usage?

So I signed up to the £2.95 plan on my iPhone; then spoofed the mac address of my laptop to match my iPhone. Whoala.

On Snow Leapard; you can spoof/change your mac address using the following command (and of course, changing the mac address listed below to match your iPhone);

sudo ifconfig en1 ether 00:ee:bb:cc:dd:ee

MAKE sure you are dissociated from any wireless networks, with Airport turned ON before you try this. Also make sure the MAC address is typed in lower-case.

So I cleaned my old room.

Ah yes, the room I grew up in. I had the rather lovely opportunity of spending time today cleaning up the remains of my somewhat teenage-hood. If you haven’t done this yet and there’s still a chance - I highly recommend it.

Featured below are items I deemed interesting for you all to see.

My beloved N64. This is getting hooked up to my LCD TV as soon as I get home.

Yes that’s right people. Star Wars in VCR format. What the heck?

PC gaming bliss.

Now I wasn’t too proud of this one ..

So I ventured into my father’s shed.

I decided on a spectacular piece of hardware - a red sledge hammer.

Nickleback was also introduced to the soldering iron.

But I didn’t get the desired affect. So I set it on fire.

Lastly I found these ancient games. That’s a Michael Jordan game from 1993. And who remembers Syndicate wars?
